General Tax Information:
If you are buying a specific property in Rindge, find out what the actual taxes are for a full year and ask questions about the assessment. Every state assesses differently and this may avoid any surprises after you have moved in. Our tax year runs from April 1 to March 31. Rindge bills twice a year with taxes due approximately on July 1 and December 1. Many banks and mortgage companies automatically send in payments from escrows. You might want to contact them to find out if your mortgage is on their automatic payment list. This could avoid a double payment. To find out how your taxes were formulated, get a copy of your tax card from the Selectmen's Office-899-5181 ext100. Then if you have questions about your assessment, call Dave DuVernay at 603-899-5181 xt 113. If you need a copy of your bill or a balance, contact my office at 603-899-5181 xt 108. Prior to Lien notices you may use personal or business checks.
My office hours are Mon - Thurs 9:00-1:00 & 2:00-4:00 Fri 9:00-1:00 These hours are subject to change due to workshops, storms, holidays, and vacations.
Payments dropped in night slot or with other departments are posted the next business day. Late payments are subject to 12% per annum. Lien bill's, Timber bills, Current Use Penalty bills and Excavation tax bills are subject to 18% per annum.
When taxes remain unpaid by the May following the last bill, a Lien is placed against the property at the Cheshire County Registry of Deeds for unpaid prior year bills.. If the Lien remains unpaid two years from the date of lien, the town may take ownership of the property by Tax Deed. The only exception to this is, any property under Bankruptcy protection cannot be deeded to the town. The Lien history remains on the records at the Registry for 10 years, even though the Lien may have been paid.
For any questions please contact my office at 603-899-5181 xt 108.

To avoid the tax lien process on the 2016 tax bills payment must be physically in my office on May 4, 2017 by 4:00 pm. No postmark dates are accepted. Also after April 18, 2017 all payments must be by money orders, bank treasurer checks or cash given at my window. NO PERSONAL or BUSINESS Checks will be accepted. Call for current balance or questions at my office -603-899-5181 Ext 108.

If you leave a message, please leave a return phone number and speak slowly and clearly.

Yours truly,
