Contoocook Conservation Complex TourPosted Apr 06, 2017
On Saturday April 29, the Rindge Conservation Commission will conduct a tour of the Contoocook Conservation Complex. The property was purchased by Rindge with the intention of preserving and keeping the land open to the public for hiking and enjoyment of natural resources.
The tour will take residents and others who are interested along a trail that is relatively easy to hike following an old road. This old road that was the precursor to the current NH Route 202 takes walkers along wetlands, over a floating bridge and through a diverse mix of forest communities; remnants of the old road can still be seen. The tour will provide walkers with a beautiful view of Contoocook Lake where they will see Commission efforts to create a pollinator area at Rogers Landing along the Rail Trail.
The tour will begin at the sign/kiosk on County Road (off Route 202) at 9:00 a.m. and will be led by Commissioners Richard Mellor and William Preston. The tour will be conducted in rain or shine.
