RINDGE CONSERVATION COMMISSION

AGENDA for

August 13, 2017

The Rindge Conservation Commission will hold a walking and boat tour of Converse Meadow on Sunday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m.   Rindge purchased the 240 acre property in 2004 to prevent the land from being developed and to protect the waters for future generations.  The land is host to an old mill site that predates revolutionary times, two beaver wetlands and a diverse mix of forest communities.

The Commission will conduct the two tours starting at 1:00 p.m.  One tour under the leadership of Richard Mellor will take residents and friends on a walk following trails along the edge of the pond that the Commission has been developing through the different forest communities.   For those who bring a canoe or kayak, William Preston will take another group at the same time to tour the pond and marsh areas.  Those who take the latter tour need to bring their own canoe/kayak, paddles and life jackets.  Each tour will take approximately 1 – 1 ½ hours.

To get to Converse Meadow, take Route 119 East from Route 202 for about 3.3 miles.  Take a slight left onto Converseville Road and at the Stop sign turn left again.  The entrance to Converse Meadow Conservation Land will be on the right.  Parking is available in front of the kiosk.
