On Friday, January 11, at 7:00 pm, the Meeting House Stage will Feature Carl Beverly.Posted Mon, Jan 07 at 09:00am
"I’ve never heard anyone play guitar like that!”
Carl has been writing and perfecting his very distinctive and unique finger picking style for ten years. Its strong rhythmic backbone will have you moving, and his songs will have you singing the very first time you hear them. His songs are personal but possess a universal emotional connection to others.
Outside of music, Carl makes a living as an engineer designing amusement rides and ski lifts. His free time is spent writing and performing at area coffee houses, assisted living homes, and farmer’s markets. He’s also part of the trio “Picket Hill”.
Carl just completed his first solo CD “Ordinary Life”, whose songs have made it to Canadian and New Hampshire airways.
His passion for songwriting led him, with the help of his wife Carolyn and their greyhound Beau, to form the Brook House Songwriters’ Circle; providing community and inspiration to other local songwriters.
How it works. Signup begins at 6:30pm and the music begins at 7pm. Performers are encouraged to sign up for an open mike slot. Sign-up is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each performer’s slot usually consists of 2 songs or 10 minutes, whichever comes first. Performers can reserve a slot up to a week ahead (no earlier) by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thinking about performing? Everybody is welcomed and encouraged to share their talents. Each month we will have a feature performer who will get a longer, 30-minute slot. Check out our Calendar to see who will be featured at our coffeehouse in the coming months.
Equipment: We have a small PA, five microphones, and instrument cables that provide sound reinforcement.
Dates: Usually held on the second Friday of each month. Consult the Calendar page to make sure that the open mike is being held during any particular month. Occasionally we may need to move the date for a given month, depending on availability of the venue. For example, in October we’ll always be on the third Friday, and in July we are typically outdoors at the Rindge Historical Society on the afternoon of the first or second Saturday. There is no Meeting House Stage during the month of December.
