ROCKS AND RILLS AROUND MONADNOCK

Rindge Conservation Sponsors Talk on Geology of Monadnock Region

Rindge Conservation Commission begins the 2023 Earth Day celebration with a free talk on the geological history of the Monadnock Region, Monday, April 10, 6:30 p.m., at the Rindge Recreation Center, 283 Wellington Rd.  Fred Rogers, geologist and Rindge Conservation Commission member, will present. The event is open to the public and should be of interest to people of all ages—rock collectors, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who ever wondered how Mount Monadnock came to be.

Fred Rogers, Professor of Geology and Environmental Sciences at Franklin Pierce University, never fails to delight his audience.  His talk will walk through the geological forces that shaped the Monadnock Region and will feature crashing land masses, ancient landscapes, and the rocks under our feet.

The Rindge Conservation Commission actively monitors and protects wetlands, lakeshores, watersheds, and other natural resources within the Town of Rindge.  Hikes, workdays, special projects, and events are held regularly to involve and educate the public about conservation areas and the benefits of preserving land for the future.  Town-owned conservation lands are open to the public for outdoor recreation
