Rindge Conservation Offers farewell to Summer HIKE

Wear your favorite hat for Fall Hat Month

Rindge, NH (September 6, 2021) - The Rindge Conservation Commission invites the public to get outside and bid farewell to summer on Sunday, September 19th while exploring Miriam Hunt Memorial Forest.  Autumn will start officially three days later on September 22nd. The family-friendly 1-hour hike will follow wide grassy trails through a mixed forest with views across a wetland.  The hike begins at 1:30 p.m. from the parking area on Route NH-119 diagonally across from Cutter Hill Road (approximately 2 ½ miles east of the intersection of NH-119 and US-202).  The hike is free and open to everyone.

September is Fall Hat Month. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite fall hat.  If you are looking for a new one, the Conservation Commission will have its popular bright orange caps available for purchase before and after the event.

The Miriam Hunt Memorial Forest hike is part of Rindge Conservation Commission’s Annual Hike and Paddle Series that highlights the beautiful trails, forests, and wetlands in Rindge.  Each outing is led by an experienced Conservation Commission member with specific knowledge of the history and unique natural features present on the conservation land.

Events are held rain or shine, but not during extreme weather. If Rindge is under a severe weather warning, please check the Town of Rindge website (www.rindgenh.org). A cancellation notice will be posted prior to the event if outdoor activities are unsafe.

The Rindge Conservation Commission actively monitors and protects wetlands, lakeshores, watersheds and other natural resources within the Town of Rindge.  Hikes, work days and events are held regularly to involve and educate the public about conservation areas and benefits of preserving land for the future.  Town-owned conservation lands are open to the public for outdoor recreation.

If you would like more information about this hike, please email the Rindge Conservation Commission at rindgeconcom@town.rindge.nh.us
