Rindge Conservation Offers FATHER’S dAY HIKE

TO KICK-OFF POLLINATOR WEEK

The Rindge Conservation Commission invites the public to celebrate Father’s Day and kick-off Pollinator Week on Sunday, June 19, 1:30 p.m. by exploring the outdoors and observing NH native pollinators at Tetreault Park and Rindge Town Forest.  The family-friendly 1-hour hike is free and open to everyone. You need not be a father to join in the fun.

The walk will begin at the parking area and follow well-defined paths, stopping to visit the newly seeded pollinator garden.  David Drouin, Rindge Conservation Chair, will lead the hike along with NH Master Gardener, Deni Dickler. Tetreault Park is located on Rand Road.  Taking US-202 south approximately two miles from its intersection with NH Route 119, turn right onto Rand Road.  You will see the kiosk and parking area on the left after about a mile.  When participating in outdoor activities, please protect yourself with sunscreen and bug spray, and bring a bottle of water.

The Father’s Day Pollinator hike starts the Rindge Conservation Commission’s Annual Hike and Paddle Series that highlights the town’s beautiful trails, forests, and wetlands.  Each outing is led by an experienced Conservation Commission member with specific knowledge of the history and unique natural features present on the conservation land.

The next four hikes in the series are July 24 at Converse Meadow (includes a paddle tour), August 21 at Schoolhouse Park, September 25 at Miriam Hunt Memorial Town Forest, and October 16 at Contoocook Marsh Conservation Complex.  The events are free of charge and held rain or shine.

The Rindge Conservation Commission actively monitors and protects wetlands, lakeshores, watersheds and other natural resources within the Town of Rindge.  Hikes, workdays, and educational events are held regularly to involve and educate the public about conservation areas and benefits of preserving land for the future.
