RINDGE CONSERVATION OFFERS HIKE AND PADDLE

FOR NATIONAL OUTDOOR MONTH

Rindge, NH (July 10, 2022) - Enjoy National Outdoor Month with Rindge Conservation Commission on Sunday, July 24, 1:30 p.m. at Converse Meadow. Participants can choose either to explore trails through hemlock and hardwood groves with views of open wetlands, or to paddle through ponds by canoe or kayak.  The family-friendly 1½-hour hike and paddle is open to everyone.

The event starts from the parking area on Converseville Road (north of NH-119 about 3.5 miles east of US-202).  All paddlers are required to bring their own canoe or kayak, paddles, and life jacket. Hikers are asked to park in the lot by the kiosk so that paddlers can park and unload closer to the launch area. When participating in outdoor summer activities, please protect yourself with sunscreen, bug spray, and water to drink.

The Converse Meadow Hike and Paddle is part of Rindge Conservation Commission’s Annual Hike and Paddle Series that highlights the beautiful trails, forests, and wetlands in Rindge.  Each outing is led by experienced Conservation Commission or Corps members with specific knowledge of the history and unique natural features present on the conservation land. Laurel and Jim Cameron will guide the July outing.

The next three hikes in the series are August 21 at Schoolhouse Park, September 25 at Miriam Hunt Memorial Forest, and October 16 at Contoocook Marsh Conservation Complex.  The events are free of charge and held rain or shine.

The Rindge Conservation Commission actively monitors and protects wetlands, lakeshores, watersheds and other natural resources within the Town of Rindge.  Hikes, workdays, and events are held regularly to involve and educate the public about conservation areas and benefits of preserving land for the future.  Town-owned conservation lands are open year-round to the public for outdoor recreation.
