MEMORANDUM

To: Residents of the Town of Rindge
From: Robert J. Faas Jr. Fire Chief
Date: 07/23/2026
Subject: NH-Emergency Notification System

The Town of Rindge is in the process of transitioning to a new public alerting system through NH Alerts which is the State of New Hampshire’s official emergency and public notification system, powered by Genasys Protect. This multi-channel platform enables public safety officials to quickly share critical information with the public using phone calls, text messages, emails, and app-based notifications. Whether it’s an emergency that requires immediate action or a community update, NH Alerts helps ensure that residents and visitors are informed and prepared.

The NH Alerts system supports both Emergency and Non-Emergency alerting. Emergency alert messages are reserved for situations requiring prompt public attention. These may include local weather impacts, evacuations, AMBER Alerts, missing people, hazardous materials incidents, or severe traffic situations on major routes that threaten public safety. Non-emergency alerts can be used for legitimate governmental purposes, such as community notifications or public service information relevant to a specific area.

To receive alerts in the format you prefer, you are encouraged to create an account through the NH Alerts registration portal at the State of New Hampshire Genasys Portal. By registering, you can choose how you want to be contacted and ensure that important messages reach you directly. To receive text message alerts, be sure to add your mobile number as an SMS contact during registration.

For those who do not wish to create an account, the Genasys Protect mobile app is another effective way to stay informed. The app provides real-time, location-based alerts through an interactive map view. Even without a registered account, users can receive broadcast messages relevant to their area—making it a valuable tool for both residents and visitors. The app can be found on the Google Play Store and the Apple Store.

Anyone who lives, works, owns property, or regularly visits an area where NH Alerts are used can sign up. You may also register to receive alerts for areas where your loved ones live, ensuring you're informed in case of emergencies affecting them.
